I’m a retired, licensed General Contractor in the state of Hawaii and at one time I was a State Industrial Corrections Supervisor. I’ve been a manager of the worlds second largest Bird of Paradise Farm on the Hamakua. I owned ‘Jasper’s Expresso Cafe’ beside Kalakaua Park in Hilo in 1992. A great many people came through our doors and we had a beans and rice plate that was a big hit.
I brought up my 2 children here and I love this island. I see great potential for us all here and also many challenges. I’d like to see us turn a lot of those challenges around and make something out of them that we could be proud of.
We have to ask ourselves: ‘What kind of future do we want?’ I’m spendinmy time talking to people about the changes ahead. I ‘m asking people on The Big Island “How do you see the problems?” and ‘Do you see the solutions?’
It’s 2008. Let’s hope it’s not too late!

It was my good fortune to go to the forum in Keaau a few weeks ago to hear our mayoral folks.I was getting bored listening to mostly the same words, just in a little different order…………then you stood up and started talking about building affordable housing using the Eucs up the coast & timber bamboo!! Wow ..where did this guy come from…..he actually sees what he is looking at! He definitely sees the BIG picture. No matter how the election comes out, we can’t stop getting the info out to make our island

Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.
